And I need to inform 2 more about Katakana rules. Have you ever seen ” ー ” Japanese word ? Like クリーム, アパート ?
About ” ー “letter I wrote, you make sound prolongation. You should make long sound before ー letter. like ” KU RIII MU ” ” APAAA TO “.
And the other one, Only Katakana word has double small word. like “シャッター “ meaning, Shutter. This case is special. you see sometimes meet them.
Do you find complicated? Should I say yes? It’s okay if you do later about Katakana words. When you are about to encounter KATAKANA words, you already memorize by that time. Actually, Katakana used foreign words but it is not only this, we don’t have definite line. Some original words are also used.
Japanese language is normally a structure of HIRAGANA and KANJI. So about Katakana words, it’s so special. The reason is, English language used WORD-SEPARATION. But Japanese language does not. So when we make an appeal in a morpheme (the most minimum words including meaning), we used KATAKANA.

a bread : ぱん( Hiragana ) . Normally, this word is used Katakana. パン( Katakana ).
a chair : いす( Hiragana ) . Normally, this word is used Katakana. イス(Katakana ).
