Kagawa prefecture belongs to one of the 4 prefectures in Shikoku. The most popular delish is “UDON”. All UDON were firmly soft and chewy. I sometimes eat this food anywhere in Japan. But this time, I decided to go to Shodoshima, which is an island in Japan’s Seto inland sea.
My adventure begins when I arrived at Takamatsu City, and took a ferry going to Shodoshima around 7a.m. Since I was already staying near Takamatsu city, I only pay around USD 6.5 with comfy seats. After an hour, I arrived at Shodoshima. I feel good as my foot landed on the island because of the cozy ambience.

According to some sources, much better to get a car in going around. So, I chose a car rental for my get away. If you choose not using a car, there are some routine public buses too.

I want to savor the moment, so I spend slow time in the island unlike in urban area, everyone is in a hurry. Such a big comparison between the two. Here, the place is peaceful, beautiful scenery is attractive and sea breeze keeps your mind calm. In short, everything is great. There are some site-seeing areas and photo shoot spots. I spotted tourists in some places in the island. But just noticed that almost are young natives. I guess, their main purpose of coming here is to post all their photos in their social media account because it is a common activity nowadays and to be fair, it is ideally perfect for Instagram post.

Another trivia about Shodoshima, it is also known as an Isle of Olives. I saw many olive trees anywhere and because the island is abundant with olives, I bought an Olive oil for souvenirs. It has a good and fresh scent, smooth to the skin and naturally made.
For my accommodation, I booked a hostel for one night. It’s like a guest house. That day, the owner has a work at daytime, and went back late. He could leave his guests freely without any problem. In his absence, all the guests are feeling at home. They talk while drinking. Anyway, I can’t feel being out of place in other guests because they were friendly and treated me nicely. We enjoyed our short bonding until late night. I shall say, I had great experience in Shodoshima.
Here, is Angel Road. I can only walk to small island when it is low tide, so I am patiently waiting.

“24 eyes movie studio “. Unfortunately, that time, I couldn’t get there because it is closed. The Japan government declares quarantine implementation in the whole country. It was untimely.24 eyes movie is very popular movie in Japan. If you want to know more about it, the link is given below.
“HISHIO NO SATO” is another attraction in the island of Sodoshima. This is known as a soy sauce village. Can you just imagine the 400 years of making a soy sauce history?

If you want to experience more about Shodoshima, you must stay there for at least 2 nights. I only stayed in 1 night, and went to some points, so I don’t have enough time to explore more. If I must stay for one more day, I would love to go to mountain area.

I will end my article by giving a piece of advice. Once again, it’s better to use or bring a car if you want to go to Shodoshima for your convenience because almost of the spots that I want to visit are not so accessible. Especially nowadays, we are still under pandemic stage. Using private car is significant and much safer.
