About Kanagawa prefecture, when you stay in Tokyo, it’s so accessible by train from Tokyo St to Yokohama City of Kanagawa prefecture. Because you only need 40 min. by JR railway. In the Yokohama city, there are many attractive places for travellers. Almost Japanese imagination of Yokohama is elegant and cool. When you stay in Tokyo area, for once you should go there.
I left in Tokyo St. at 10:30 a.m. by JR Keihin Tohoku line. I need to transit at Yokohama St for going to Motomachi-chukagai St. I arrived at 11:30 a.m. Despite of the late morning time arrival, yet I feel cool under the sun, so I decided to walk around the Yokohama area.
At first, I go to Yokohama Chinatown ( Chuka Gai ) because it’s almost lunch. I feel that I am traveling to China because I smell some Chinese foods. It makes me starving so much. Around 12:00 noon, I decided to look for any Chinese restaurants. Today is weekday, some restaurants are offering reasonable meals for lunch services. I chose one set of menu for around USD 9 per dish.
Outside, they offer the street foods. Even though I am just done in eating lunch, I want to eat again because Chinese foods smell yummy!
I left Chu ka Gai, then I go ahead to Yamashita Park by walk. In there, some guys are sitting in a bench while eating their lunch. Such a good feeling while I walk around seeing the ocean view at the park.
I arrived at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse ( Akarenga souko ).This is famous place because of a TV program. Inside the warehouse, you can buy souvenirs and take a break with some drinks.
Japan Coast Guard Museum YOKOHAMA is located near the Akarenga souko. Here is the exhibit of the North Korean vessel and weapons. The admission fee is free and you can see some equipment of North Korean operative.
You can do walking along the bay at daytime.
Kamakura city and Enoden Line
Kamakura is a charming city blessed with historical heritage such as many shrines, temples and rich in natural environment. You can feel them as you get-in in the Enoden Line. So if you go there from Tokyo, you go first to Fujisawa St, then you ride in Enoden Line to Kamakura St. This train makes a historical feeling and you can see the coast location with you.
As you arrived at Kamakura St, you get out from the station and walk around to shopping street. Some street foods and historical goods are waiting for you.
Chigasaki city
Chigasaki city is situated beside the ocean. If you want to witness the exhibition of the surfers, you can go here. It has a coast with long beach and surfers gathered here riding with their unique bicycle because they attached some carriers for bringing the surf board. They are often looking for good waves, then if they find a good timing, they transfer with their bicycle and surf board. This is their style before surfing.
Chigasaki city is almost known by everyone because the most popular singer of “Southern All Stars” came from here. As a matter of fact, the street name is named after the group.
